La mujer al teléfono tardó unos segundos en responder. <<El anterior vigilante se fue después de una semana>>, dijo con voz seca. <<No quiso explicar por qué>>.
The woman on the phone took a few seconds to answer. The previous watchman left after one week, she said in a dry voice. He did not want to explain why.
Esa noche, Marcos no pudo dormir.
That night, Marcos could not sleep.

But for years, every time the wind blew hard at night, Marcos thought he could hear those words: Nobody came to look for us.
