Carlos entró en la cocina de su casa en Galicia.

Quería preparar la empanada de su abuela.

He kneaded the flour with his hands, just like her.

The house smelled of onion and pepper, like on the Sundays of his childhood.
Cuando la empanada salió del horno, tenía muy buen aspecto.
When the empanada came out of the oven, it looked very good.

But when he tried the first bite, something was not right.

He smiled with wet eyes.
