(The Lift)
María trabaja en el piso diez de un edificio grande.
María works on the tenth floor of a big building.
Cada mañana, ella usa el ascensor.
Every morning, she uses the lift.
Hoy, entra en el ascensor con su jefe, el señor González.
Today, she enters the lift with her boss, Mr González.
María pulsa el botón del piso diez.
María presses the button for the tenth floor.
El ascensor sube, pero de repente se para.
The lift goes up, but suddenly it stops.
¡No funciona!
It doesn't work!
María está nerviosa.
María is nervous.
El señor González está muy tranquilo.
Mr González is very calm.
Él dice: No hay problema.
He says: No problem.
Pulsa el botón de emergencia.
He presses the emergency button.
Esperan cinco minutos.
They wait five minutes.
El ascensor empieza a moverse otra vez.
The lift starts to move again.
Baja hasta el piso tres y se abre.
It goes down to the third floor and opens.
María y el señor González salen rápido.
María and Mr González get out quickly.
Ahora van a usar las escaleras.
Now they are going to use the stairs.
¡Las escaleras son más seguras!, dice María.
The stairs are safer!, says María.
El señor González se ríe.
Mr González laughs.
